Started running so I’d lose weight

Now I’m just fat but my joints ache

Like a book that no one ever read

Nobody likes flowers when they’re dead

They took your picture off the wall

Took their phone off the hook

Dead bolt and locked the door

“We thank you for your time”

No last lap, just so long, good luck and goodbye

Bought a house so I’d have something to leave my kids

It’s full of dirty dishes, lost dreams and tupperware lids

If now is the winter of our discontent

I had a cold summer, icy fall and a life misspent

The ship rats have left,

The light is going out and the sun sets west
