If I close my eyes tight enough

I don't feel it anymore

The pain that spreads from the middle of my chest

To every inch of my body

It is constant

And unwavering

A burden that I have taken on unwillingly

It is a monstrosity in the corner of my room

Just barely out of sight

But I can feel its awful gaze

It wants to hurt me

And I think I will allow it
