Night of the solstice

After the polls closed I was

Out on my

own time

Just trying to breathe right and

Hiding in places

Between where I'm from and going

It was cold in the morning

But it always is yeah

Humid enough to taste it

At the top of the stadium we

Drew down the dark together and then left alone

Half of the leaves won't grow back

In the coming spring and you know that

But you plant in the fall like we can win em all

If I never know

How fragile it hangs now

All around your neck

Twists in your throat and it quivers your lip, loosens your grip

Try to put it away

Try to see each day

Because the ones ahead are all shorter than this
