And the mystery around his madness

Always said it was a hit from god

I think it was a life of sadness

Never spoke of it for 50 years

The town knew him as a quiet spirit

Pleasant weather

Day after day

Beg for storm clouds

To come and take him away

Meet god

And ask why

He was spared

And she died

My grandfather knew the Old Man Todd

When they were kids in a house for foster

Sang a hymn on his wedding day

And watched him disappear when he lost her

Still reclusive after 50 years

Still hoping she can somehow hear him

Flying kites at the end of the road

Still wishing she could be right near him

Hid her necklace in the chimney top

It got struck and shattered brightly
