Anthem of Our Fathers

A hero on the mantel

The unsung story of a common man

He put down his dreams to pick up a gun

Went overseas to fight for his homeland

All's he wanted, "Oh God", he prayed

"Let me see my wife and kid again someday"

As fate would have it his life he gave

Now his countrymen spit on his grave

The lines have now been drawn

And this is the hill that I'll die on

Better men than I have given their lives

Now we must fight

Tension's rising

Flags are flying

There's no seeing eye to eye

Views colliding

Worlds dividing

Far beyond the point of compromise

There's no reconciling the truth and all the lies

If we don't take up our fathers fight

Liberty forever dies

I see a storm out on the horizon

I see a war a battle of minds

I see blood on the earth our children are dying

But I see a dawn at the end of the night
