Tomb

City lights are far from view

Cemetery rendezvous

Getting numb inside my car

Eyes held captive by the dark

Strips of film are glued and wed

A glitch flickers inside my head

And it never let’s me sleep

For a promise I intend to keep

Abandoning the warmth inside

Emerge from heat to frozen night

Fingers sting slamming the door

Comfort makes the pain hurt more

Frost breaks underneath my step

With bitter wind and trembling breath

I make my way up on the hill

To where my baby’s lying still

Winter bites the skin

Piercing worn and ragged clothes

We’re all punished for a life

An existence never chose

A love once I pursued

I never thought what it would cost

Now I know all too well about

A love forever lost

God, I’m to be alone

Fallen from your sky

Left with fractured rays of light

The stolen dreams were mine

Upon the shoveled dirt

A radiant lily blooms

I tear it from the earth
