This land, this land, covered in Hogweed

Umbelliferæ and aniseed

This moon brings water to the highest flowers

We hang them up, and down in these hours

The Summer playground smells of Meadowsweet

And ferns curl all around our legs and feet

And by the burn, there grows Sweet Cicely

Where Mary walked out once, in her finery

Two Yew trees guard the garden in the wall

Where rest the deer, and secret damsons fall

And once, I spied a deer resting there

He told me to be a Meadow Anemone

Oh prisoners, prisoners can you jump the wall?

Atop the castle when your freedom calls?

For if you reach the side, you'll flee this valley wide
