it was a tough choice

between space and dinosaurs

But when I thought about it

and how we’re connected

to everything that came before

We all look to the sky to tell us our lives matter

Set out seeking to prove that we can still do better

We are surrounded by darkness but out there

I wonder if someone can see through the clouds

Maybe from here if the view were clear

we could make sense of what men have done

We’re all trying to understand

just where the place is in this world for us

Funny how hundreds of years ago

we know that they all were too

Casting up

asking their questions

to the same stars

the same stars

and the same moon

So we captained a race

through a series of test phases

If we could make it true

Would it help us discover

what we were made of when we

landed a man on the moon

And all of our gods fought for their parts to be written

And the ship gathered speed but going in peace was our mission

For all of the miles we’ve traveled since then

In so many ways we’re the same as we’ve been

We burn passionate to push past the limits and make beautiful ideas real

We’re still trying to understand

just where the place is in this world for us
