Into the Unseen

Morning mist like a dream

We were living in the promised land

Strolling out among the leaves

No fear of sickness or the empty hand

We saw the peaches on the trees

And took more than we could eat one day

We saw our neighbor now in need

Then we hid our stolen fruit away

The cold was bleak, the heat was harsh

The silence wasn’t silent anymore

The air was thick, the water dark

While we were busy working at the store

Cassandra’s wild and whirling ways

Were a dance we never understood

So we branded her insane

And disappeared into our neighborhoods
