I crawl from the river to see

A reflection of what I've become

Peeping through the cracks of my fingertips, the skyline weeps with me

With a storm brewing

So fragile, oh, so fragile

I find shelter under the table where we spent hours, so many hours

Painting, fighting, growing up

As the heavens finally open, flames roar across the horizon

Surely someday, someday something has to change

So I rip myself from safety, hands shaking

Like the boy I am

I climb the table, and I dance

The flames move with such innate, destructive beauty

And we dance, we dance, we dance, we dance

Flesh, just a cushion

For grief and for love

It melts down my face, off my bones

And lies with the ash of the village
