From the beginning

I knew you weren't good for me

I trusted you when you shook my father's hand

And you looked into his eyes

Said you'd"take care of me"

You just took care of yourself

Three years later

It's four now

Your dreads are to your shoulder

My waist is bigger now

My brothers still asks of you

And my father wonders too

Even with a new partner

I think they all knew

I loved you

I used to cry

And I'd cry my 19 year old tears

And I'd cry

But the new Man in my life

Wipes them from me

Four years later

Almost five now

I could be wrong but time flies

And we're getting older now
