Had a chip on my shoulder and a mouthful to eat

While I came out on top

I was claiming defeat

I never strayed too far from the passenger seat

Just a couple of kids stumbling in the dark

I kept blaming the scene never scanning my part

Disguising all my aims til it tore me apart

The vanity at show always made it seem vile

There were people I met that was easily impressed

Made me misplace my soul and unsettle my head

The meter on the board peaked a distorted red
