Birdsong interrupts

It pierces and it cuts

Straight through my slumber

Like a hot knife through butter

My eyelids come unglued

Sunlight creeps through

As I hear a siren pass

I peel my face from the glass

Retrace my tracks

Wonder what brought me back

When the morning fog is heavy

Home doesn't look so friendly

Nothing's worse than dreading

Loosened threads

Covered in red
