Dropping into motion like a mouse into a wheel are you awake?

I'm just circling the drain until tomorrow

Tomorrow only waits for yesterday and time

Will tell if I arrive or if I loop away

Walking in the dark anonymous I drift across the yawning floor

Each step I hear a door softly closing

And I resign to find nothing worth the time

Because the light would only lie and I would do the same

Feeling for the corners crawl along a fraying edge

Pulling on a string taught and tangling my hands

Maybe I'm invited to step onto the melting ice

Carry on the chase let the smoke erase my eyes

Dragging on with constant affirmations I'm the one I'm in control

A thread descends to hold my chin up slowly

And I will only do what I'm meant to do
