Why’d you cut down that tree

Don’t you remember

That used to be our spot

Now the porch view looks different to me

There’s a cottonwood tree where I live now

And it reminds me of my backyard

I didn’t really know it

But I was fine to begin with

So I’ll try

To fake myself out a bit

Take myself out of real life

Because it doesn’t come that natural to me

Not because I think you’re wrong or right

Nothing to do with anything directed at me

Between my work and the place and time for jubilee
