You light up every room without trying

I stay quiet in the corner just watching

Every laugh you give away so easy

It feels like something I'll never be

You say my name like it's nothing special

Just another word that passes through

But I hold onto every syllable

Like it's the closest I can get to you

And I know, I know

I'm just background noise in your stereo

But I don't know how to let this go

I try, I try

To convince myself I'll be alright

But every time you're near, I lose the fight

You're a distant fire, burning bright

Close enough to see, too far to feel the light

I'm freezing in the shadow of your glow

Loving you in ways you'll never know

(You're a distant fire, burning bright)

(Close enough to see, too far to feel the light)

I'm freezing in the shadow of your glow

(The shadow of your glow)

Loving you in ways you'll never know

Distant fire

Loving you in ways

You'll never know
