歌詞

So eventually, the marriage ended
It was too much damage, too much pressure
Too many pieces of myself sacrificed
Tryna make everybody else happy
And after it was over
I finally admitted something to myself
Music was the only thing that never left me
No matter what happened
No matter who came or went
I always came back to it
So instead of fighting the truth
I started to embrace it
I stopped halfway loving music
And fully committed to it
I'm married to the music
The decision changed everything
Not long after that, I moved to Oakland
And that move, that was destiny
Because somehow, someway
I got the opportunity to move in Soundwave Studios
Not just a studio, but a whole building dedicated to music
Floor after floor, room after room
Probably a hundred different studios in there
Rock bands, rappers, singers, producers
Every genre you could think of, all under one roof
And for somebody like me
Coming from boomboxes, garages, living room setups
Walking through those halls felt unreal
This wasn't practice anymore
This was the real world
And the craziest part is
All the legends was in there
I'd be in the building seeing people I grew up listening to
Mac Dre, Spice 1, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Green Day, and many others
Cats whose music raised the bay
People who already made history
Now I was sharing a space with them
Breathing the same creative air
That did something to me mentally
It made me realize
I really did belong in this music world
By then, I had what I thought was the big studio
Clients was coming regularly
Sessions was booked
Artists was pulling up consistently
Word had been spread
And unlike before, people wasn't laughing at me no more
Now they respected the craft
They respected the grind
They respected the quality
I stayed busy, almost too busy
Engineering sessions, recording artists
Building relationships, learning every day
Just by being in that environment
And for a while, everything felt smooth
No chaos, no drama, just music
For the first time in my life
I wasn't chasing the streets
I was chasing greatness
And every time I unlocked that studio door
I felt one step closer to it
