Designed to numb and appease, but has undermined our ambition

This monster called Algorithm now stands in for the mind

A proxy for discernment and the will we've left behind

There's no malice involved when the beast claims a victim

No schemes or lies, it just finds patterns in the system

Anticipating what we want, but without asking why

Merely accepting our surrender as we eagerly comply

The queue is unending, just let it pick your next view

With no need for pretending that the choice is up to you

When questions get answered faster than they're raised

Control is relinquished to remain comfortably unfazed

It anticipates needs and then feeds that appetite

Before the craving even forms, it prepares the next bite

But can we know that the hunger would've been there at all?
