So it takes me back

To a time

When I was walking with daughter in Sydney

And we had just been to dinner

And we were just walking with a friend from our gym

And then my daughter kept saying

“There’s someone behind us,

There’s someone behind us,

Theres a man behind us”

I said it's okay, just let him go pass

Next minute, I felt this tugging under my arm

And he was trying to take my purse

'Cause I only took my purse with me

And as we were walking along

He was trying to take it from behind me

Like he was trying to tackle me

And he pulled so hard, I fell to the ground

And then he got up, and he ran

And I chased him

And I was so scared

And then I just stopped out of nowhere

Because I didn’t know what to do

And I just froze

And then I screamed

And then he stopped

And then I just looked at him

And I thought to myself

He could have had a knife

Or a gun, or anything

But I guess I'll never know

But to this day

I was so frightened that day

And I was shaking

As we started to walk back to our hotel

Why did you chase him?

I chased him out of fear

But also out of like

He had something that was mine and it didn’t belong to him

So I chased him because I wanted it back

I didn’t have much money in there

But I had all my memories, all my photos of my kids

And everything in there

And I just wanted them back
