Artist Biography
Fronted by Small Faces' Steve Marriott, Humble Pie formed in England in 1969. Their debut single, "Natural Born Boogie," hit the British Top Ten and led to their premiere LP, As Safe as Yesterday Is. As Marriott's raw blues shouting began to dominate subsequent LPs like 1970's eponymous effort and 1971's Rock On, co-founding member Peter Frampton's role gradually diminished, and the guitarist left. Humble Pie grew even heavier for 1972's Smokin'. Released in 1973, the ambitious Eat It fell just shy of the Top Ten, but after 1975's Street Rats, Humble Pie disbanded, only to be revived by Marriott in 1980. The band released two more albums prior to dissolving again. ~ Jason Ankeny
