Artist Biography
Skid Row is a multi-Platinum-selling heavy metal band, fronted during its late-’80s/early-’90s heyday by lead singer Sebastian Bach.
∙ Before releasing their first album, the band paid guitarist Gary Moore for the rights to use the name Skid Row, a ’60s-era Irish blues-rock group he was once in with Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott.
∙ Their 1989 quintuple-Platinum debut, Skid Row, was ranked No. 5 by Rolling Stone in their list of the 50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time.
∙ The band won Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock New Artist honors at the 1990 American Music Awards.
∙ Slave to the Grind, their 1991 sophomore album, spent 46 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 1.
∙ “18 and Life,” Skid Row’s biggest single, was included in VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.
∙ After a series of lineup changes, the band welcomed new lead singer Erik Grönwall, of Swedish rockers H.E.A.T., into the fray and released "The Gang's All Here," the first single from that year's LP of the same name.
