Growing up a girl is way harder than they say Seeing spicy girls on MTV who seem get it their way Wanting to be strong like them but knowing the struggles I would face Now I see that their power is fragile She's in the room but doesn't take up too much space Grabs the chances she gets and still knows her place Still they tear her apart for being too smart Then praise her for handling the hate with grace She's digestible and of value to them as long as she doesn't complain And remains A goddamn sensation on the marketplace The girls they love her She's a role model They want to be her Oh, do they all not know that it's so superficial? What's really going to change? I studied her every move Her clothes and her attitude I longed to consume her thoughts too Wanted to know what that girl knew The way she talked in interviews leaves me confused Had all the men amused even with their egos bruised Made it look like fun to be a woman in this world But left the state of politics unmoved The girls they love her She's a role model They want to be her Oh, do they all not know that it's so superficial?
