Battle of New Orleans

In 1814, we took a little trip 'Long with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississipp' We took a little bacon and we took a little beans Caught the bloody British in the town o' New Orleans Fired our guns and the British kept on comin' Wasn't now as many as there was awhile ago Fired once more and they began a runnin' Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico Now we looked down the river and seen the British come Must've been a hundred of them beatin' on a drum Stepping so high they made the bugles ring We stood beside our cotton bales and didn't say a thing Fired our guns and the British kept on comin' Wasn't now as many as there was awhile ago Fired once more and they began a runnin' Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico Well they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles Ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go Ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico Woo Well Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise if we didn't fire a musket 'til we looked 'em in the eyes So we held our fire 'til we seen their faces well Then opened up the squirrel guns and give 'em hell Fired our guns and the British kept on comin' Wasn't now as many as there was awhile ago Fired once more and they began a runnin' Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico We fired our canon 'til the barrel melted down Then we grabbed an alligator and we founght another round Filled his head with canon balls, powered his behind But when we touched the powder off, the gator blew his mind Well they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles Ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go Ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
