About Spoegwolf
South African rock band Spoegwolf has topped the charts while becoming one of their countryâs most celebrated Afrikaans acts.
â Before Spoegwolf (âSpit Wolfâ) was founded in 2012, its members played together as teenagers in a different group, Ysterkoei (âIron Cowâ).
â The bandâs debut album, 2012âs Swaartekrag, produced two of their signature songs, âLenie Blouâ and âSomersetwes.â
â In 2016, their sophomore LP, Somer, was named Best Alternative Album at the annual Ghoema Music Awards, which honor outstanding achievements in Afrikaans music.
â Aside from their work with the band, brothers Danie and Moskou du Toitâthe latter is an accomplished chefârun their own restaurant in the town of Stellenbosch.
â After releasing the LP Koma in 2019, they became the first-ever Afrikaans act to top the Apple Music Albums chart in South Africa.
â Spoegwolf teamed up with fellow South African rocker Francois van Coke on âDagdrome in Suburbia,â the title track of his 2019 full-length.
