Remember that time we planted

The crepe myrtle in the back yard

The brick piling underground

Two butterknives and a soup spoon

And the clay, and your blood

We lost ourselves yet we found them just the same

There was sex on the balcony

Photographs of sand and skin

And a sunrise at the very end

I learned long ago that the record keeps spinning round and round

It's a simple resurrection

Watching the jasmine grow in the yard
