Digging

I’m digging in the soil, yeah I’m digging a big hole

I’ll dig until I see the light in sunny Mexico

I’m getting lower every minute, deeper with each blow

And I’ll dig till I dig no more

There’s sweat upon my shoulders, there are blisters on my hands

My skin is burning in the sun, my socks are full of sand

The monkeys on my back are staying with me till the end

And the end is a lonesome friend

Everybody’s waiting for a moment that will not arrive

When I climb out and tell them that the hole is now the perfect size

And when it comes to digging I admit there’ve been a few

By a few I mean one and by one I of course mean you

Throw you a spade if you would like

And you'll be digging too

And we'll dig till we dig no more
