Paris Breeze

Yellow lights and cobblestones

A glass of wine that never gets empty

Glitter in the sky and stars that shine

A million years to you and me

An old hotel with lace and velvet

And some stones they brought here long before the Mayflower

I’m wrapped in sepia and sorrow

And a war that tried to burn the city down

Maybe after all this I’m still searching

Smoke rings blowing through the scenes

Wrapped around your body like ivy

Clinging to the trees

In a Paris breeze

It grows suffocating here without you

Near enough to touch me in the bedsheets

We’re breathing lavender and jasmine

And the dust that’s fallen off of some great painting

Yea there’s a painting of a naked woman

Waiting on some watercolor cliffside

She stares across the purple water

Where the stars reflect the longing in her eyes

Maybe after all this I’m still searching

The city stops as if to wait
