Songtexte

I found a flower pot army the year my baby brother was born, that was 1974
I was looking for water underground
I am woman born to work but the day you showed I quit and took a picture of
you with your shovel, your pick and your axe
Might as well tear another portal open, we’ve used up all this one’s force,
light once escaped will never again darken your door as long as you move on
You threw up your tent and raised your flag and all I saw was red and then
you finally acknowledged me, I was under the trees in the orchard by the brook,
you took my hand and said come with me, there’s something you should see I know
it will speak to your soul
Go on tear another portal open, we’ve used up all this one’s force, light
once escaped will never cast a shadow on your door, you feel asleep on our
front porch but I told you to move on
Ground held our feet, stood and said “I do”, piles of rubble around, at night
we lay you whisper, you’re quiet we’ll never be found, by the ghosts of your
ancestors all around are begging you to stay, the promise on your lips, the
hand over my eyes and there was nothing I could say
Go on tear this poor heart open, we’ve used up all of it’s force, light once
escaped will never again darken your door, you fell asleep on our front porch,
altering your course, forever and ever
