Frozen In Time

Ice getting thicker

Out on the lake

I feel myself shiver

With each breath I take

Past the ice-covered birches

The bend but don't break

The earth it is frozen

Like cold granite stone

Snowed in for the winter

Roads are all closed

Till spring shows its face, nowhere you can go

Out on the timberline, the snow drifts so high

Waters of summertime, all turn to ice

Not a creature inside as day turns to night

Frozen in time

Cordwood is stacked high

For the potbelly stove

Can't wander outside

When it's twenty below

And the frigid north wind whistles and moans

Ice covered window pains, ice covered scenes

Ice covered memories, ice covered dreams

Just like a prism they glisten and gleam

Out on the timber line

The snow drips so high

Waters of summertime

All turn to ice

Not a creature inside

As day turns to night
