Austin, Texas’ Uncle Lucius built a reputation as a live powerhouse on their way to becoming one of the biggest names in Southern rock.
∙ According to frontman Kevin Galloway, the band’s name was inspired by the legend of an eccentric old man named Lucius who searched for a “greater spiritual purpose” in the Louisiana swamps.
∙ In 2013, Radio Texas, Live! put Uncle Lucius at No. 1 on their Top 5: The Most Underrated Artists in Texas Music list.
∙ The band received a Texas Regional Radio Music Award for Best New Duo/Group/Band in 2014 and was nominated for Country Band of the Year at the Texas Country Music Awards in 2018.
∙ Produced with the help of a crowdfunding campaign, their 2015 LP, The Light, peaked at No. 16 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart.
∙ Uncle Lucius marked the end of their career with a sold-out show at Gruene Hall, Texas’ oldest dance hall—an occasion that required a one-night extension to accommodate ticket demand.
