Although he'd been recording and performing since the 1960s (and had appeared in Jack Good's award-winning West End musical Elvis), Welsh rockabilly singer Shakin' Stevens' career really took off in the '80s, during which time he enjoyed a string of U.K. Top 40 hits. His star waned in the '90s, but in 2005, Stevens bounced back into the spotlight by winning the U.K. reality television show Hit Me Baby One More Time. A pair of earnest, roots rock albums -- 2016's Echoes of Our Times and 2023's Re-Set -- recalibrated him as a politically minded songwriter in his late career.
Shakin' Stevens has also released music as a member of Shakin' Stevens & The Sunsets.
