*Al Gore sound excerpt*
The consensus, is that you?
Are you willing to agree with the work that the scientists do?
It's really simple, actually it's a fact
More precisely, I think it's a matter of math
The equation for global heat involves three things
The solar constant, albedo, and atmospheric layers, is that a thing?
The solar constant describes how much power we get from the sun
Albedo describes the reflective nature of the world,
If the planet only reflected light that number would be 1
And finally we have the layers of the atmosphere
That keep on growin when we add gases there and here
So really the solar constant and albedo remain the same
But what we can change is the atmospheric layers,
And quite frankly I think that's how we'll win the game
We live in a planet getting hotter with each passing day
And sometimes it seems that there is nothing we can do or say
But there is, you gotta reduce your carbon
Making informed choices everyday I'm all in
But the problem isn't just carbon you see
Because There's SF6 and PFC and HFC and that's just 3
Of the 6 total greenhouse gases
All contributing to the warming of the planet for the masses
CO2 doesn't just come from cars and planes as we travel
It also comes from the production of
Cement, look at all there is to unravel
Much more potent is that CH4 its methane
Comes from anaerobic respiration that's a big thing
In stagnant water wetlands and low oxygen landfills,
The stomachs of cows as they digest grass deep within their bowels
And we can't forget about those CFCs from refrigeration,
Used to burn a hole in the ozone and warm all of the nations
We live in a planet getting hotter with each passing day
And sometimes it seems that there is nothing we can do or say
But there is, you gotta reduce your carbon
Making informed choices everyday I'm all in
So where does this leave all of us in the world today?
Take a look at the 4 representative concentration pathways
That's RCP for short, they describe future greenhouse gas projections
4 different scenarios that help us determine our direction
In scenario 8.5 which is business as usual
We'll see massive warming and oceans rising, that's a big refusal
Instead adopt scenario 2.6, which shows the change that we need
And will only keep the world warming up to 2 degrees
We live in a planet getting hotter with each passing day
And sometimes it seems that there is nothing we can do or say
But there is, you gotta reduce your carbon
Making informed choices everyday I'm all in
Come on guys
Do your part
We're in this together
