How much until the scale begins to tip Sinking deeply to a place you prayed others wouldn't slip It's tough to not be angry asking how you could have left Heartbroken that you dipped to that level of depressed In all of this darkness somehow you had a light A spark that shone brightly and gave others hope for life I'm sorry it all just became too much That it seemed the only way was for you to give up Everything you sang was for your community Inspiring nations you reached for betters things Lifting your people up with language and the drum Knowing there was good things still yet to come You saw the beauty in it all and the job you had to do Using laughter as a tool and that smile of yours too You believed in easier days but there just was too much weight I wish I could do more for you but now I promise to carry on from the groundwork that you laid I'll never let your death only be in vain Your life touched more people than you'll ever know You sparked wildfires even in the snow
