Endless

There was a day

I started to believe

just what is and not what could be

And dreams

then became defined

by my limits and my confines

But like a child

every now and then I see

and the voices of doubt

are effortlessly drowned out

by the endless

I have no walls

I have no chains

my mind is free

and my spirit is awake

There’s a wide, sprawling field

and I dash in the open range

The horizon and my heart

can never be caged

They are endless

when life was simply

one big possibility.

Now I draw lines

and plot out the safest way

to just add more days.

But like the wise

every now and then I wake up

and the illusion of control

is effortlessly overthrown

by the endless
