(dyed, tied) cut my shoelaces to look cooler

threw them out when i found something newer

they said we had it so easy

being kids watching cartoons on tv

they said we could be famous

but i'm at that party with no tag nameless

now were dressed as soldiers

fighting (back) tears until we're tired and older

it's a new world

they said the future would be rainless

trees would die but it would be painless

and we'd be stuck at the funeral

singing hymns and hoping for a miracle

we're all trying our hardest

i gave up straws to save the rainforest

and if it doesn't turn out how we want it

you can refuse or stand up and own it

it's a new world after all

no you can't start over

hit reset and pick the winning number

all this living feels aimless

so i think of death and how it could change us
