She delegates her helpers and looks the colonizers in the eye

"Who are you to say where I come from?"

Leandering sisters walk together

Carrying their unborn children's prayers

Once great nations sanctioned her rhythms

That led to congregated freedoms

Speaking the spirit language

Connection to the earth

To the stars

To the waters

She's protection

She gathers

Collecting broken hearts, and says

"We are the people, we are the nations

That will bring nourishment and aspiration

Feed them with our spirits, conquer them with our teachings

Hold them with our hearts, with kindness's unleashings"

She breathes in the words

Blood and tears of her ancestors

And gains her second wind and says

"This is not your lullaby

We are the people, we are the nations

This is our song and not your infatuation"

She devours their greed and permits their heed

And for a moment, she sees

She is freed

She gathers
