God

Created Earth and gave,

dominion over it to the crafty ape called man.

Then there were men and women meant to procreate

bending nature and life to their own selfish needs.

Then there were laws and gods, blood-soaked wars and witnesses of boundless cruelty.

Hands that held the sword and the inkstand.

From the vile plagues rained on Egypt to the poisoned air we breathe today,

we drive the scourge to our back.

Droughts

and pestilence festered in the very heart of this great land,

we're getting back in time.

And I ask myself how long will we last with a shovel of dust driven into our lungs.

It's no balmy winds brushing our skins, call 'em monoxides or God's fury, what are they if not harbingers for the end.

From the fires (that) consumed Sodom and Gomorrah to the poisoned air we breathe today,

we drive the scourge to our back.

In times like these our sins are tricks to keep frustration at bay,

we’re soon to be the migrants we used to hate.

There will be further banes and blights,

now those are butterflies considering the heat that will melt us down.
