Lyrics

She's seen her first light when she opened her eyes wide on
a windy day in April and still she's got the scent of lilacs on her skin.
April 26, 1986, was the day this world
heard her voice make sounds and tunes of intangible delight.
(And) then she was left alone, right before the evacuation, in that zone of alienation,
near the border with Belarus, in Prypiat, Ukraine.
She learned to detach herself from everything that could be lost,
to bind only to what is pure, absolute and perpetual.
Her enchanted voice became a seed hammered into the heart
of the Balkans, a constant threat to new mothers in Polesia.
So she’s got no organs and she needs parts, but what she gets is breadwinners’ inflamed
livers straight out of a Crimean sanatorium!
"All the numbers and records we got used to, all of them have a name
and a face but maybe they're way too far from our t.v. Screen.
Ain’t this such a wonderful dreamworld we live in?
We’ve got pay-tv, s.u.v.’s and no sense of guilt.” Accept the truth as long as it’s concealed.
“Duty has the virtue of making us feel the reality
of a positive world while at the same time detaching us from it.”
“The confusion of today discounts the freedom
of tomorrow and confusion is born of procrastination.”
