Yet a dagger to the heart, tear your world apart.

So long, it seems oh so long ago

Had to let go of your hand and now I understand.

You said “I love you, to the moon and back” and everywhere beyond and in between, through every nightmare and every dream.

You said “I love you to the moon and back” and like we’d always say, sure as night follows day, we’ll meet again.

It’s absurd, seems I’ve been mourning you for years. Late night listening at your door, sweet relief to hear you breathing.

You seemed so old when I was young, the last leaf on the tree. But you were that tree to me and I took shelter in your branches.
