I took a cold hard look at my broken heart, going to see if its ready to start loving again

It's been two years now since you went away, I thought I felt it beat just the other day, but then again....maybe it's a new heart growing strong, waiting for a new girl to come along and love us like she should every day, but maybe I'm just dreaming my life away with a broken heart.

Flicking matches at the mirror through this winter gloom, sitting on my own in my one room apartment.

I check the windows now and then to see has the frost gone. Throw a stone from my back door at the frozen pond, still like cement. Maybe the sun'll be back soon from holidays and come and melt the blood in my frozen veins and maybe ill start living all over again.. But maybe I'm just dreaming my life away with a broken heart.

Suddenly! There’s a shadow hanging over me, could it be? A ghostly glimpse of how I used to be, happy?!

Well I've been drinking pretty heavy for a life time or two, the summers finally here and the sky is blue, she's not the only one.

And I'll retire undefeated from this life that remains of broken whiskey bottles and empty picture frames that once held your face.

And I’ll board up all the windows and tape up the door, write a little note, my forever mores,
