Lyrics

This one goes out to uh
To you mom to you
I've been trying to hold this back
For a long time now but
No disrespect or anything like that
But I need to get this off my chest
There's something
I've been wanting to say for a long time
And it's the only topic
I haven't talked about yet So
No disrespect
I will always love you but
I speak the truth in my stories
And people need to hear the truth so
Like I said no disrespect
I will always love you
This is a huge part of my story
And I think it shaped me Into the man I am today
So
Yeah anyway here we go
I've been troubled since a young age
Never bit my tongue
I was never afraid to say What I wanted to say
So today I'm gonna uncover and confront
The one thing I tried to delay
The way my mother denied her own son
Until this very day
It's weighed a ton
So it's time I get this off my chest
She paid more attention
To the man
She always thought would be next
Then when they left
She swore that was it
Oh did I forget to mention
She was codependent just like her son
Who she resented
She despised the fact that I was an addict
So yeah I was surprised when I found out
That she had the same habit
Always blaming my dad For everything I inherited
Shaming me might I add Was like her number one imperative
She sent me to rehab
I can't tell you how many times
Now looking back
It was just to keep me out her mind
She didn't want to see me And I couldn't understand why
No matter if I was clean or how hard I tried
Mom I apologize
But I had to let this off my chest
All the lies you thought I bought
And the rest
I always tried to be my best
Never had success
So I'm taking this stress this mess
And I'm putting it to rest
Mom I apologize
But I had to let this off my chest
All the lies you thought I bought
And the rest
I always tried to be my best
Never had success
So I'm taking this stress this mess
And I'm putting it to rest
It's clear as day
Me and my mother have issues
And I'm being sincere When I say I love her and miss you
But mom you never listened
When it was just me and you
So I'm wishing you're in a position where you hear me all the way through
Through through through through
I never had the chance to be a kid
Protecting and raising my sister
I was doing all the things that she never did
I embraced it
Hoping it wouldn't be forever
But a wish is just a wish
Unfortunately for her
It just never clicked
So I went looking for love in other places
In order to forget
Trying to fill the void
Didn't know it was a bottomless pit
Which became a problem real quick
Chasing anything
Now realizing
I was doing the same exact thing that she did
It's insane trying to replace the real thing with a fix
But it's how I deal with everything that I've missed as a kid
I'm ashamed of what I did
To maintain
I apologize for all of it
Mom
Now I just need you to do the same
I also need you to see things how we did
You never listened
So I wrote it all down
This is one thing I needed
So I'm hoping that my mission succeeded
At the very least mom
I'm hoping that you read this
Or that you see it
Mom I apologize
But I had to let this off my chest
All the lies you thought I bought
And the rest
I always tried to be my best
Never had success
So I'm taking this stress this mess
And I'm putting it to rest
Mom I apologize
But I had to let this off my chest
All the lies you thought I bought
And the rest
I always tried to be my best
Never had success
So I'm taking this stress this mess
And I'm putting it to rest
