I was only sitting in the shadows

When I found myself

Looking for somebody I could follow

When I needed help

The weight was on some shoulders that weren't asking

That was my first mistake

The second was searching for an answer

In the wrong place

You told me I was an alien

It wasn't hard to believe you then

But what was wrong was being an alien alone

On a planet, I was meant to call my home

What's so wrong with being an alien alone

In the spaces I had learned to call my own

I built a spaceship from the

Pieces I could salvage from my home

I mapped directions using paths that I had

Traveled on my own

I crossed my fingers as I held my breath

And watched that world implode

Maybe taking off was best for me

But I can't deny I miss what I used to know
