Lyrics

Same life, two angles
Which one is true?
From here it looks like I made it, from there it looks like I left
From here it's called ambition, from there it might be theft
Of something that belonged to where I came from, I don't know
The parallax of progress is the hardest thing to show
From the suburb where I started, I'm the one who got away
From the rooms I'm standing in now, I'm the outsider today
Never fully in the west anymore, never fully in the world
That opened up its borders, parallax, two flags unfurled
Simultaneously, I can't occupy both positions
But I see from both of them, that's the price of my ambitions
The west gave me the mass, the world gave me the distance
Parallax, the gap between them is my whole existence
Parallax, same thing seen from far apart
Parallax, same life with a fractured heart
Same origin, different destination
Same blood, different occupation
Parallax, I see me from both ends
The kid I was and who that kid became
Parallax, I live in the between
The most honest view of any moving thing
From the outside looking in, I'm a Western Sydney story
Authenticity and grit and all the trappings of the glory
Of the underdog ascent, the narrative is clean
But from inside the story, man, it's nothing like it seems
From inside there's the doubt and the imposter in the mirror
That shows you both versions and you can't decide which one is clearer
The kid who sat in classrooms being told he had a limit
Or the man in rooms today who doesn't recognise the limit
Both of them are me, same mass, different position
The parallax between them is the source of my condition
Some days I live out west, some days I live out further
The measurement between them, that's the baseline of this murder
I don't know which angle is the real one anymore
From out here everything looks clean and purposeful
But from back there I'm still seventeen and unsure
Parallax means neither view is wrong
And neither view is everything
Maybe the truth only exists
In the distance between where you've been
And where you're standing
I give both positions, I contain the parallax
I'm the suburb and the ambition, nothing left to subtract
From either version, I was built by both coordinates
The grit of where I'm from and where the orbit of my art exists
Parallax becomes a superpower when you hold it
When you stop trying to collapse the view and start to unfold it
The wider your baseline, the more precisely you can measure
The truth of any object, distance is a treasure
Not a wound, the gap between where I began and where I'm going
Is the instrument of accuracy, the baseline
From my knowing parallax, Stigman, I contain it all
The western and the universe, I carry both
Stand tall
Both angles, one truth
Parallax, Stigman
West Sydney and beyond
Same star, seen from everywhere
