Lyrics

I've been saying it this whole album
The universe doesn't owe you anything
Gravity doesn't care about your plans
Your pain, your ambition, your suburb
It just is
And so am I
And so am I
Yeah
Gravity don't care that I was born in the wrong postcode
Gravity don't care about the weight of the road I walked to get here
It just pulled everything down equally
The dreamer and the king and the clown
Gravity don't care about my father's tired hands
Or the housing commission or the system or the plans
Of politicians drawing lines around our worth
Gravity just pulls everything back to Earth
That's the brutal truth I learned from Western Sydney living
The universe is indifferent and the universe is giving
In equal measure, everything returns to ground
And from the ground is where the real ones are found
Gravity don't care (It never did)
Gravity don't care (About the things I hid)
The ambition or the pain or the suburb I'm from
Gravity don't care (And that's where I begun)
Gravity don't care (That's enough to feed)
Gravity don't care (That makes it complete)
I don't need the universe to care about my name
I just need to build enough mass and stay in the game
Gravity don't care (And neither do I)
About the ones who measured me and watched me from the side
I built the mass, I curved the space around my presence
Gravity don't care (And that's the lesson)
Twelve tracks of dark matter
Orbital mechanics of a life lived at escape velocity
No panic, twelve tracks of event horizons
Terminal velocity, half-lives of everything I loved
Reciprocity of loss and gain
Dead stars still shining in the cold
Supernova of a moment, parallel stories told
From two positions, redshifted and still moving
Singularity of self and now I'm proving
That the whole album was one answer to one question
That I carried since the Western suburbs pressed it
Into me, the question was "Does the universe see you?"
And the answer that I found was
It doesn't need to
You don't build for the universe to notice
You build because the building is the meaning
You don't survive so something larger can acknowledge
You survive because the survival is the art
Gravity don't care
And in that indifference, there is an absolute freedom
No one is measuring your worth from the cosmos
No suburban school report follows you to the stars
Just mass, just pull
Just what you build, just who you are
So here I stand, twelve physics terms and one life lived
At the intersection of the science and the grid
Of Western Sydney, at the corner of the mass and the meaning
At the end of looking backwards at the past
And choosing to compress it into fuel, into art
Into something with enough density to start
Its own gravitational field, its own event
Its own horizon, its own meaning
Fully meant, Stickman
Dark matter that became a force you feel
A singularity of self, the orbit is real
Gravity don't care
But everything I built is pulling something toward it
And I carry that with tilt and pride and weight
And love for every person who compressed their own potential
In the furnace of a suburb that was never on the map
Gravity don't care
But Stickman does
And that's a fact
Dark matter
Can't see us, can't measure us
But we hold everything in place
Gravity don't care
Gravity don't care
